The Regent Park Community Health Centre is a community-based primary health organization. It provides a mix of medical, nursing, social work, community health, community development, early childhood development, youth support and other services to a diverse community with complex health and social issues in downtown Toronto.

CAAT – CAPACITY BUILDING COORDINATOR
• Permanent, Full-time
• Annual Salary: $38,000

Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment (CAAT) is a network of service providers and immigrant/refugee PHAs working together to improve access and quality of care for marginalized PHAs. CAAT is seeking a Capacity Building Coordinator to work closely with AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) in Ontario to engage, empower and co-create resources that improve service access for immigrants, refugees and non-status people living with HIV (IRN-PHAs).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the guidance of the Director of CAAT, in collaboration with the program advisory committee, you will be responsible to:

• implement CAAT’s annual capacity building plan including training, supporting and overseeing CAAT’s peer facilitators
• identify training and capacity building needs of ASOs and other AIDS-related agencies in Ontario by identifying gaps in their knowledge and capacity to serve IRN-PHA communities
• develop and implement training and capacity building activities to assist organizations in meeting the needs of IRN-PHAs throughout Ontario
• coordinate and deliver CAAT’s capacity building program with AIDS Service Organizations in Ontario
• coordinate the development and updating of training modules and resource materials for outreach to ASOs and their partner agencies serving IRN-PHAs
• coordinate the recruitment, training, deployment and supervision of newcomer PHAs as peer facilitators to assist with educational activities for ASOs serving IRN-PHAs
• provide coordination support to CAAT PHA capacity building activities such as the ETSN peer treatment counselor training
• conduct outreach to mobilize and support ASOs throughout Ontario to participate in CAAT program activities
• assess outcomes for the capacity building program and ensure regular evaluation
• assess the work of the peer facilitators
• identify recommendations on actions for improvement
• provide assistance to the Director of CAAT and the program advisory committee
• maintain relevant project statistics, documentation and reports
• ensure regular reporting to the Director and prepare written progress and final reports
• Carry out other administrative tasks where necessary
• Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of CAAT and the Trustee
• Adhere to organization policies and procedures, including health and safety policies and practices
• Carry out other training and capacity building tasks as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• post secondary degree in education, social or health science or equivalent
• knowledge and work experience with HIV and immigration issues
• experience in project coordination and the delivery of training programs
• demonstrated understanding of empowerment and capacity building frameworks
• demonstrated success in coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders
• commitment to social justice and anti-oppression principles and practices
• demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to be accountable to team process
• excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; computer literacy
• lived experience with HIV/AIDS, immigration and refugee system and experience in direct client social/health services an asset
